Just over a week ago we held our first Ask God night looking at the question "Why do people suffer?"

Probably the major news event in January was the awful earthquake that hit the Caribbean country of Haiti. Already one of the poorest countries of the world, it was perhaps the least prepared and equipped for such a severe disaster. At the time of writing, the death toll had been estimated to be in the region of 200,000 and although, miraculously, even eight days after the event, people are being pulled alive from the wreckage and rubble, the situation for the most part is extremely distressing to the billions around the world brought face to face with the disaster thanks to the global communications of the modern age.
